Junior Springbok and Sharks utility back Curwin Bosch was voted as MyPlayers Player of the Month for March, gifting him a holiday trip for two to Santorini in Mozambique sponsored by The Safari Guys.
Curwin Bosch received the most votes from the professional rugby players in South Africa after featuring on a shortlist that included Cheetahs wing Raymond Rhule, Springbok Sevens speedster Rosko Specman, Southern Kings flanker Chris Cloete and Stormers wing Dillyn Leyds.
Bosch is enjoying an outstanding 2017 season for the Sharks, playing an influential role for the Durban-based Super Rugby franchise at flyhalf and fullback. After six rounds, the 19-year-old features as the top scorer in the competition with 73 points. His most notable performance came during the 37-14 win over the Waratahs at Kings Park, when he scored 27 points via a try, two conversions and six penalties to seal an emphatic win.
Bosch expressed his gratitude as he received the MyPlayers Player of the Month award in association with The Safari Guys.
“To be voted by my team-mates and other players in South Africa is a great honour,” Bosch told MyPlayers. “It’s always great being recognised for the hard work that one puts in week in and week out. I’ve really appreciated all the opportunities coming my way, and I hope to continue my progress during the season ahead.
“I’d like to pass on extra thanks to MyPlayers and the Safari Guys. Since entering the professional rugby system, I could immediately see the amazing service offered to players by MyPlayers – from great benefits to assisting us in making important career decisions, especially when it comes to life after rugby. I’ve started my studies this year, so there’s a lot happening on and off the field, and behind the scenes.
“I’m in a better position as a professional because of all the help and advice provided by MyPlayers. Getting this reward from the Safari Guys is a nice cherry on top of everything.”
The prize sponsored by The Safari Guys this month will see Bosch and his partner travel to Santorini – a coastal Greek-styled resort in Mozambique.
Organisers describe the venue as: “Vistors will enjoy the sensuous pleasures of Mozambique in this enchanting seaside paradise. Santorini is located a few kilometers north of Vilanculos on its own stretch of beach overlooking the Bazaruto archipelago. The villa rests on an elevated point surrounded by dense coastal vegetation, owning unparalleled views and privacy.”
“It’s an amazing prize,” replied Bosch in reaction. “I’ll be taking my girlfriend with me on the trip. It will be our first holiday outside of South Africa together, so she’s definitely excited. I’ve also never been to Mozambique before, so I’m looking forward to an exciting beach adventure. It’s going to be a great way to enjoy a break from rugby.”
Looking ahead, Bosch stressed he’ll need to remain focused as there’s a lot of rugby to look forward to in 2017.
“I’ve just returned home from my first senior Springbok camp, which was a great experience. I want to continue playing well and help the Sharks achieve the collective goals during Super Rugby this season,” said Bosch. “While it’s been an exciting few months for me, I know there’s still a lot of hard work ahead and I need to continue working on my game. There’s always room for improvement.”
