The Players’ Charity made a R50 000 donation to former Springbok Sevens speedster Cornal Hendricks’ youth-focused foundation.
The Players’ Charity is an initiative created by the professional players in South Africa aimed at contributing to charitable organisations in their communities.
Every year, professional rugby players in South Africa have the opportunity to make donations to worthy causes in their playing communities.
The Springbok Sevens decided to make the Cornal Hendricks Foundation as their preferred charity.
Cornal Hendricks and his team met up with the Blitzboks at the V&A Watefront, where they were doing a signing session ahead of the Cape Town Sevens this weekend.
It turned out to be a special day as Kyle Brown and Philip Snyman handed over the R50 000 cheque to Hendricks.
“It’s always great having the opportunity to give back, especially to the Cornal Hendricks Foundation. Cornal, as a rugby player, has done so much for his community and has inspired so many with his performances on the field. It’s great helping him extend his influence on so many people through his foundation,” said Brown.
Hendricks added: “Thank you to the Springbok Sevens players and MyPlayers for all the hard work you’re doing. This donation is going to go a long way to helping so many kids in rural areas. We’re excited to organise new equipment and kit for so many kids!”
