Bulls speedster Warrick Gelant was voted October’s MyPlayers Player of the Month, brought to you by The Safari Guys.
The other players who made the shortlist for the October award include Nizaam Carr (WP), Francois Venter (Cheetahs), Wilco Louw (WP), Lukhanyo Am (Sharks). SA Sevens coach and former Bliztbok Paul Delport assisted in selecting the nominees this month.
After the voting period, Warrick Gelant emerged with the most votes from all the professional players in South Africa.
The Outeniqua old boy was a star feature for the Bulls during the Currie Cup, showing great form on attack and defence at fullback. He was instrumental in the last line of defence for the Pretoria-based union, who went on to make the semi-finals.
Gelant, who’s currently in Europe after receiving his first Springbok call-up, said he was delighted with the recognition from his peers.
“I’ve been working really hard this year after a frustrating time with injuries in recent seasons. I’m delighted that my hard work has paid off… I’m really enjoying my game on the field,” Gelant told MyPlayers.
“It’s a real honour receiving the most votes from all professional rugby players in South Africa – from team-mates and opponents. It just shows that there’s a great camaraderie among the guys on and off the field.
“Looking ahead, I’m soaking up all the experience I’m getting during my time with the Springboks in Europe. I’m also exciting for the 2018 season as this is the first time I’m going into a new Super Rugby campaign without any injury concerns. I want to make a big impact for the Bulls next year.”
